Typical Three Day Salmon Fishing Holiday

DAY 1

Groups usually number between two and six fishermen. Around 8am your Bobsport guide will meet you at a pre-arranged pick-up point. (Edinburgh hotel, station or airport.) Remember your guide is an expert and has vast local knowledge so feel free to trawl his brain for hints and guidance.

A group of satisfied fishermen

While spinning is very popular, fly fishing is our speciality so let us teach you Spey casting. Packed lunches are available each day, and your first day's fishing generally ends in the late afternoon, after which the accomodation is only a short drive away.
On arrival at the river, beats are allocated and your first day's sport begins. Salmon of 20lbs are not uncommon while the record to beat is 64lbs. Good luck and tight lines!

DAY 2

Is spent on the Tay, Teith, Tweed or the River Spey, depending on the time of year and the salmon run. Pick a pool on the River Tay - each one has its own beauty and charm, with names like Point, Battery, Chinese, Peter's Pool, Bolfracks and Manse. All are easily fished from the bank.

Further North the River Spey is our most popular summer venue. Here the pools are rich and varied. Fish the fast boulder fly pools for salmon. Or cast a line over slow moving streams full of sea trout and brown trout. Generally our fishing day starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm. However, if you want to be up with the lark it can be arranged - have a word with your ghillie the day before.

DAY 3

The last day and your last chance to catch the one that keeps getting away. You'll be on the same river as yesterday. And to give you as much time as possible we put your cases in the car in the morning, ready for a mid-afternoon departure to arrive in Edinburgh at around 6pm, hopefully with a full fishing bag.
